Seashell Crafter began with my passion for seashells and
love for crafts. In addition to seashell crafts, I enjoy
crocheting, beading, and scrap booking. I try to
incorporate these techniques into my seashell crafts when
possible.
Before Seashell Crafter
Native to St. Louis, Missouri, I relocated
to Tampa, Florida in 2001 after graduating from Southeast
Missouri State University with a business degree. I
couldn't wait to be close to the beach and decorate my
apartment with seashells.
Beach Treasure Hunting
Go tanning at the beach? Not me.
I was the one covered in sunscreen, bucket in hand, bent over
collecting seashells. Like many who collect seashells, I
didn't know what to do with all of them. Some shells
were put in glass vases or jars and I set a few favorites on
bookshelves. Sadly, the rest of the shells were put in shoe
boxes and set in the garage.
The Seashell Wreath

It wasn't until 2005, when I got the urge to
really "create" something out of my seashells.
I wanted a creative way to display the beauty, colors, and
textures of these amazing little treasures. I took out
my 2 cardboard boxes of seashells and decided that a seashell
wreath would be the perfect way to display the shells.
After a little trial and error, I glued the seashells on the
wreath one by one. I even experimented with making
some seashell flowers and glued them on too. To this
day, my first seashell wreath hangs proudly on the wall by my
front door.
Seashell Crafter and
Beyond
After getting many compliments on my
seashell wreath, and a few orders from friends and family, I
decided to start a business making items out of seashells.
It started with just Seashell Wreaths, Seashell Crosses, and
Seashell Picture Frames, but now has expanded into Seashell
Jewelry, Seashell Mirrors, Seashell Purses, and more.
In the next few months, I will be launching
a new Do-It-Yourself line of products for those who like to
use their own creativity with seashells. I am
continually adding new products to the site so please add me
to your favorites and check back often.
Seashell Crafter's
Mission
The Mission of Seashell Crafter is to share
the beauty of Seashells in useful products such as, Seashell
Decor, Gifts, and Accessories so that they will be enjoyed
everyday. Unlike many other seashell sites that simply
buy their shells from the Philippines or other foreign
countries, most of the seashells used to make the seashell
products at Seashell Crafter are hand collected from Florida
beaches.
